Some tips for preparing your family language stay
Choose the destination first
Start by choose a destination based on language that your family wants to learn or improve. Discuss destinations that interest you as a family. Choose a country where the target language is widely spoken. For example, if you want to learn English, you could consider destinations like.. UNITED STATES, THE United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta or further, Australia.
Languages & Travel will help you organize all the details of your stay, including language courses, accommodation, and transportation. Some language schools specialize in programs for families .
Language courses for your family
Schedule language classes. Course programs can vary depending on the age of family members. You decide who in your family will take language classes : your children and/or your spouse, or the whole family. Some schools offer courses specifically designed for children, teenagers, and adults, which are then taught separately. Make sure you choose a program that suits everyone's needs . Generally, classes are held at the same time, e.g., in the morning, for children and parents, so that the whole family can then get together for relaxation and exploring the area.
What type of accommodation?
Choose the right type of accommodation ! Accommodation options for families on a language immersion trip generally include homestays, apartments, or hotels. Consider what best suits your family in terms of comfort and cultural immersion.
Activities outside of language classes
Plan family activities : In addition to language classes, be sure to plan family activities to make the most of your stay. Explore the region, go on excursions, visit museums, attend local events, and more. These activities will allow you to put what you've learned in class into practice while discovering the country's culture and way of life.
All our partner schools offer group social activities to reinforce learning; you are free to participate or not.
Prepare yourself before departure
Prepare in advance : learning a foreign language as a family requires some preparation. Try to learn a few basics before you leave so you're ready to communicate as soon as you arrive. Also, encourage your children to take an interest in the culture and language of the destination country; their language immersion trip will be all the more beneficial.
Example in Malta : parents attend classes here and teenagers here .
