1 week on the Pacific coast between surfing, yoga, environmental volunteering and an excursion to Isla de la Plata.

A human-sized organization means personalized support for your volunteer experience in Ecuador

Our partner is an organization committed to responsible and sustainable tourism in Latin America . Founded in 1997, it offers immersive experiences that combine learning, adventure and volunteering, with the aim of creating a positive impact for both travelers and local communities.

Their mission is to provide authentic and immersive experiences, educate travelers to adopt a respectful attitude, and foster a deeper understanding of cultural differences and the mutual respect that stems from them. Our partners firmly believe that responsible travel is the only way forward for tourism and that, together, we can make this world a better place.

The route

Volunteering in Ecuador – Itinerary 

🗓️ The detailed program

Day 1 – Arrival in Quito.
Airport pick-up and transfer to your hostel. Check-in to your dormitory and welcome dinner with the other travelers.

Day 2 – Exploring Quito & La Carolina:
Guided tour of the UNESCO-listed historic center, followed by a stroll through La Carolina Central Park. Return to the hostel for a free evening.

Day 3 – Cotopaxi Volcano Adventure:
Departure for Lasso and exploration of Cotopaxi: hike to the refuge and descent by mountain bike. Overnight stay in a mountain lodge. Lunch & dinner included.

Day 4 – Quilotoa Crater & Arrival in Baños.
Visit the Quilotoa volcanic lagoon, then drive to Baños, at the gateway to the Amazon. Check in to the hostel. Lunch included.

Day 5 – Spanish & salsa!
Spanish lesson (4 hours) followed by a salsa lesson (1 hour). Free evening in the bars of Baños.

Day 6 – Mountain biking to the waterfalls.
Spanish lesson in the morning, then mountain biking to the Pailón del Diablo waterfall. Get ready to get wet!

Day 7 – Relaxation in Baños
Spanish lessons in the morning then free afternoon: coffee, hiking or thermal baths.

Day 8 – “Canopy” Excursion:
Zip lines and thrills! Last festive evening in Baños.

Day 9 – Departure for the Amazon.
Drive to Puyo and immersion in the jungle. Check-in at the animal rescue center. The volunteer adventure begins!

Days 10 to 14 – Animal volunteering:
Participation in animal care, cleaning, feeding, etc. Full board during the week (no meals on weekends).

Day 15-16 – Free weekend
Rest at the centre or free exploration of the Puyo region.

Days 17 to 21 – Animal Volunteering (continued)
Continuation of your mission at the center. Same formula: meals included during the week.

Day 22 – Departure for Montañita (beach).
Long journey to the coast. Check-in at a hostel in Ecuador's coolest surf village.

Day 23 – Relaxation in Montañita
Free day to enjoy the beach and relaxed atmosphere.

Days 24 to 26 – Surf, yoga & Spanish.
Yoga lessons (2 days) and surf lessons (3 days). Optional Spanish lessons available.

Day 27 – Ecological volunteering in Las Tunas.
Day of environmental engagement: beach cleanup, monitoring of turtle nests. Lunch included.

Day 28 – Excursion to Isla de la Plata.
Discover this “mini Galapagos” by boat, snorkeling, seabirds… + whale watching (from June to October). Lunch included.

Day 29 – Last free day
Free day to enjoy Montañita one last time before the farewell dinner.

Day 30 – Return / Galapagos Extension
End of program. Possibility of transfer to Guayaquil to catch the flight to the Galapagos.

🏝️ Galapagos Extension (7 days – optional)

Day 30 – Flight to San Cristobal.
Transfer to the airport and flight from Guayaquil to the Galapagos (San Cristobal). Welcome by our local team, check-in at the hotel, and walking tour of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Welcome meditation on the beach and sunset yoga.

Day 31 – Yoga & surfing
Yoga class in the morning, then surfing lesson in the afternoon. Gentle immersion in the local rhythm of life.

Day 32 – Surf & yoga (continued)
Same format: surfing, yoga and relaxation in an idyllic setting.

Day 33 – Excursion to Kicker Rock.
Snorkeling around an impressive volcanic rock: sharks, rays, turtles and seabirds. Lunch included on board.

Day 34 – Empowerment & Surf Workshop:
Personal development workshop in the morning, then another surf session.

Day 35 – Free day + activities.
Last yoga and surf classes, free time to explore the island. Enjoy every moment!

Day 36 – Closing & final sunset
Free day, end-of-stay activity and farewell dinner.

Day 37 – Departure from the Galapagos.
Transfer to San Cristobal airport. End of the adventure.

  • Sea Turtle Conservation – Osa Peninsula: Spend
    one week monitoring, protecting, and releasing baby turtles on the beaches of the South Pacific.
    Open to those 18 and older – ideal for a short but intense immersion.

L&T is very careful in choosing its volunteer projects , which too often turn into voluntourism and do more harm than good to the community. Project leaders were selected based on their actual impact on the community or the environment; the organization is a certified B corporation, which provides an objective criterion for this impact.

Our partner organization is small and has a personal touch. The person in charge of volunteers has been personally interviewed and provides exemplary support and guidance.
