Three words that go hand in hand: English, horse riding, Ireland ! Discover Ireland and its culture during your stay with an Irish family with horses, where you can share your passion for riding while improving your English. This language immersion program combines language, culture, and sport, guaranteeing total immersion – which, according to Languages & Travel, the best way to make rapid progress in a language. Limited places available. Age range: 8-18 years.
This homestay language program is a wonderful example of cultural immersion . To ensure its success, participants must be independent, motivated, and open-minded, and will develop strong adaptability skills to an environment and lifestyle different from their own. They must also have a good foundation in English and be able to entertain themselves independently when needed, outside of the activities organized by the family.
Our partner takes great care in placing each child according to their interests and age . In fact, our Irish partner will place your child with a host family alongside a child of the same sex and a similar age (within a maximum of two years). Each family is carefully selected and vetted. These are families who wish to welcome young people into their daily lives.
The number of horses each family owns varies. Some families own and run a riding school, others have two horses, and perhaps only one of the children rides. Each participant will take care of their horse and participate in the tasks involved.
• The participant is the only French speaker hosted during their stay with an Irish family and horses . They will therefore have the opportunity to ride with their host family , participate in farm life, and help care for the horses. Full board accommodation . This is the essence of our English-language riding holiday in Ireland.
• Irish families, rigorously selected by our correspondents, are particularly welcoming and warm.
• The place of stay is determined by our partner based on the dates of stay, the language and riding level of the participant, as well as the availability of host families.
Your child will either have their own room or share it with another child of a different nationality and language.
99% of families have Wi-Fi.
Course intensity:
Private lessons, Language courses + activity
Course type:
Junior
Private English lessons can be provided on site, either by a qualified external teacher or by a member of the host family authorized to teach English.
Five to ten English lessons per week can be added to the program. This does not necessarily have to be the same number of hours each week, and taking lessons every week is not mandatory. However, the specific lessons, number of hours, and frequency must be indicated at the time of booking.
This Irish family stay with horses is not a riding course, and therefore cannot be compared to a riding school, as the family members are not qualified to teach the discipline. For safety reasons, we require each participant to have at least a Galop 2 level certificate and to be able to understand the risks involved in this sport. We guarantee a minimum of 8 hours of riding per week (in practice, the number of riding hours is often more than 8). Upon registration, you will be asked to send us a link to a video demonstrating your riding abilities.
You will need to bring your riding boots , riding helmet, lumbar support, and jodhpurs (riding pants), essential equipment to participate in this program.
Throughout your English horse riding holiday in Ireland, our local representative ensures the smooth running of the program on site. Our team is also available in Belgium should you need assistance.
To travel to Ireland and participate in the English riding Ireland stay, the participant must bring their identity card plus parental authorization to leave the territory (issued by the town hall in the entity where the young person is domiciled) or their valid personal (a passport is equivalent to parental authorization).

Languages & Travel recommends themed stays (with activities) for teenagers/juniors. It's more effective. It's easier to convince a young person to go and learn or practice English by offering them an equestrian stay in Ireland, No ?
Tip : This trip is the most popular with our Irish partner. Languages & Travel recommends booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Last-minute bookings are generally not available.

"Hello, I appreciate you checking in on the participants in the various programs. I haven't heard much... I know she arrived safely, that the family is great, that it's not raining too much... and that everything is great. Since she's hardly posted anything on Facebook, I assume she's very busy and not bored (and that she's improving her English)."

"The trip went well. The family is very friendly. I spoke to my daughter on the phone, and she thinks the family is really lovely. I also spoke with Mrs. Connaughton yesterday, who also gives her lessons, and she gave me this feedback: she finds her daughter discreet, understands what is said to her, but would simply like her to talk more, to ask more questions. That will come later. She rides horses with the granddaughter, Christina, with whom she also gets along well. So, the first week, which is usually the most difficult for adjustment, went very well, both for my daughter and for the family, who think she is settling in well. Thank you for finding such a responsible, close-knit, and motivated family."

"That's it, Lucie has arrived at her family's home, who are very, very welcoming! Thank you. I can tell Lucie is very happy."

"Dear Mr. Carré, Thank you for your email. From the little news I have (and it's a good sign), it seems Caroline is happy. She told me that her foster mother was lovely. She had a jumping lesson… and that's clearly pure joy. All positive news then! Thank you for your kindness and have a good long weekend."
