Conditions for applying for an au pair stay abroad
To become young au pair You obviously need to love children and be able to prove it with a strong application, including letters of recommendation (from previous host families where you've babysat, summer camps, etc.), photos of you with children, and so on. Then, you have to be willing to adapt to the host family's new rules, schedules, requirements, absences, and so forth. Generally, you should already have an A2/B1 level in the target language to be able to understand the children and their parents' instructions.
Becoming an au pair abroad isn't for just anyone! Candidates who submit a well-prepared and complete application, tailored to the requirements of partner organizations and the chosen country, who hold a qualification as a youth leader and/or have relevant experience, and who also possess a friendly and cheerful demeanor, will be given priority. This experience demands a certain level of maturity and a strong sense of responsibility.
Accelerate your language learning with an au pair stay
All our au pair stays will be combined with language courses because, from experience, language courses not only by nature will accelerate linguistic progress but also offer opportunities to contact other young people from all over the world, which will avoid the frequent feeling of isolation experienced by the au pair girl or boy abroad.
Golden rule: Languages & Travel has NEVER worked and will NEVER work directly with an au pair host family. Sending a young woman or man abroad as an au pair is out of the question without at least one guarantee of a contact in the country who has either already vetted the host family and/or can intervene quickly. We would never entrust our own children to the lottery of the internet. Websites that criticize agencies that place au pairs are not there to resolve any problems that may arise on-site.
